tesslynch:

joni mitchell, “california,” 1970.

I first heard this song before a Steve Jobs keynote many years ago (before U2/Coldplay/Jack Johnson became a common fixture on the show). This was in my office on Michigan Ave in Chicago during the days they aired MacWorld events live. It was probably cold and gray, and the snow on the ground was a gross kind of dirty. That time in January after the holidays when everything just seems a mess and dull and dreary and hopeless. I never really wanted to move to California. It was never in The Plan. But on that day I really, really, really wanted to get out here. This song and the promise of new Apple gadgets will make you feel hopeful.
